Tea House Attendant

Website House of Steep

Righteous Relaxation

House of Steep is a Tea House and Foot Sanctuary promoting relaxation in the busy DC metro area.  Our goal is to provide a space that allows customers to step away from their bustle for some healthy and simple relaxation. Serenity isn’t as far as the spa or vacation destination – it’s in our customer’s own back yard.  We are looking for talent who are eager to contribute to a customer’s positive experience, who believe in the benefits of tea and herbs, and who are proponents of life in wholesome balance.

The Tea House Attendant will accept orders, prepare tea and light healthy snacks, check customers into the sanctuary, and basic inventory and cleaning responsibilities.  Other duties include, but are not limited to, foot soak attendant responsibilities such as cleaning basins and overseeing smooth transitions into and out of foot sanctuary; also leading workshops, sharing knowledge with teammates and customers, assisting with marketing, social media, community outreach strategy, and helping to mold the direction of the company.  We are a small team that is dedicated to making a difference for our neighbors: in bringing tea and health knowledge and appreciation to our conversations, in buying local and finding ways to contribute locally, and in offering a space that helps one connect with themselves or their closest friends or colleagues without the noise and distractions we are all accustomed to.

Ideal candidate:

Peaceful, proactive and poised.  Healthy respect for tea and alternative health.  Self-starter.  Desire to learn, contribute and take lead on tasks and responsibilities.  Open to feedback and willing to do more if asked.  Friendly, entrepreneurial-minded individuals who are interested in influencing the company and seeing it grow through collaboration and ownership of results.  Basic computer skills and an interest to learn are a must.

Job requirements:
– Experience in fast-paced, customer service and retail environments.
– An ability to stand for periods of time and lift up to 20 pounds throughout the shift.
– Reliable transportation.
– An ability to work at least one weekend shift.

We offer comprehensive training to help grow employees to their highest potential.  Pay will be fair and based on level of contribution; performance and associated pay increases will be evaluated regularly.  Please send resume to pam@houseofsteep.com
